Delete your data

You can ask 5Kobo to delete your account and the personal data linked to it at any time.

How to ask

  1. Email privacy@5kobo.com with the subject "Delete my data", from the email on your account, or include the phone number you sign in with.
  2. We confirm the request is yours by sending a code to that phone number. We never ask for your BVN or bank password to do this.
  3. We confirm when deletion is done, within 30 days of your request.

Contributors don't have accounts. To remove your name from a Collection's public record, email privacy@5kobo.com with the Collection link and the date and amount of your Contribution.

What gets deleted

Your name, email, phone number, saved bank accounts, devices set up for "Confirm it's you", and sign-in history. Connected group chats stop receiving updates from your Collections.

What we have to keep

Nigerian financial and anti-money-laundering law requires us to keep records of Contributions, Withdrawals, and identity check results, generally for at least five years. We keep only what the law requires, restrict who can see it, and delete it once that period ends. A Collection with money still in it must be withdrawn before it can be closed.

Our account provider, Anchor, keeps its own records of your identity check and transfers under the same rules. See our Privacy policy for more.
